PERRYWOOD EAGLES  3rd Kewill Tournament Holland 2008

May 16th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, James H, Jack D, Joe, Matt, Josh, Dan DK, Adam

For the second year in a row we took a team over to the Kewill tournament in Holland.

Overall the boys came in 3rd out of 8 teams and the results were two draws and two wins, scoring 9 goals and conceding 2.

More details can be found on www.dsove4.nl and pictures of the whole weekend have been at http://picasaweb.google.nl/KewillNL/KewillPupillenToernooi2008 .

There was a lot more to the weekend than just the football and a great time was had by every one that went :)

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  0 v 0 Maidenbower Navy Blues

May 11th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack F, James H, Gus, Jack D, Joe, Matt, Benjamin, Josh

Goal Scorers:

Well, it was time for the snow postponed match against the Navy Blues and with the sun shining down, the weather could not have been more different. It was also the last match of the season and with the Navy Blues the only unbeaten side, the Eagles needed to be on top form. Special mention for Adam who was unfortunately unable to make the game having fallen ill the previous day (get well soon Ads !).

From the start it was nail biting end to end stuff, the Navy Blues having their chances and Jack F making some great saves, whilst at the other end the Eagles put pressure on the Navy Blues goal by making some great runs, hitting the bar or just failing to find a way past the keeper. Despite numerous corners at both ends, excellent defending from both teams kept the ball out of the net.

Final score 0-0. The team played brilliantly and matched the Navy Blues all the way. The Eagles have grown stronger throughout the year and have put the Navy Blues under increasing pressure in successive league games so there was nothing to choose between them...roll on next season!

Man of the Match: Joe

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  11 v 0 Maidenbower Blue Alpha

Apr 20th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, Jack.D, Jay, Benjamin, Matt, Joe,

Goal Scorers: Benjamin (3), Matt (3), Jack.D (3), Joe (2)

One of the sunniest and warmest match days of the year saw the Eagles up against Maidenbower Blue Alpha. Having beaten them 5-0 on each of the last 2 occasions, the Eagles were hopeful of another strong performance and they did not disappoint.

It was probably one of the best team performances of the year with great passing play creating havoc with the Maidenbower defence. Benjamin, Matt and Jack all picked up hat-tricks, Joe slotted in a further 2 and there were also numerous near misses keeping the Maidenbower goalkeeper very busy. In the Perrywood half, Jack F had a very quiet game with James and Adam comfortably sweeping up any Maidenbower breaks. Final score 11-0 to the Eagles.

Man of the Match: Benjamin

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  2 v 0 MSB Lightnings

Apr 13th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Adam, Jack.D, Benjamin, Matt, Joe, Gus, Jay

Goal Scorers:  Matt, James.H

This was not going to be a particularly easy match based on the scorelines from our previous 2 games against this team. In addition the boys were aware that they had back to back matches today. There was an unsettled start with end to end play from both teams. For several minutes, there were no real chances but the boys started to settle down and apply a bit of pressure. Jay scored an excellent goal - kicked from just inside MSB's half which floated over the keeper. Matt scored early on in the second half and Jake did a good job in goal with one particularly good save.

There was a brief interval before the next game started where the hope of being runners up in the league was re-kindled when Ifield were beating Oakwood 2 -1. Oakwood equalised and the final score was 2 - 2

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  8 v 1 Horley Falcons

Apr 13th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Adam, Jack.D, Benjamin, Matt, Joe, Gus, Jay

Goal Scorers: Benjamin (3), James.H (2), Gus (2), Matt,

The rain came down during most of this match making the surface quite slippery but the boys did themselves proud and were committed to the task in hand despite the weather. Goals came thick and fast and whilst the Falcons did manage to get one back an Eagles victory never looked in doubt.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  7 v 1 MSB Thunders

Mar 30th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, Jack.D, Benjamin, Matt, Joe, Gus, Jay

Goal Scorers: Benjamin (3), Matt (2), Jack.D, Gus

Following the 4-1 win over Chelsea Elite Centre U9s in a mid week friendly it was back to the league with a game against MSB Thunders. In the previous game against the Thunders, Perrywood had struggled to get a draw but this meeting turned out to be somewhat different. The Eagles were on top form and with great passing and team play the goals started to arrive early on. Benjamin put the first 2 in followed by Jack D who made it 3-0. It was not all one way though and MSBT remained strong on the break. Jack and Adam were therefore kept busy in defence and had to make some good interceptions, clearances and saves. Unfortunately one attack resulted in an accidental handball by Perrywood in the penalty area. Jack F almost reached the ball but it was enough for MSBT to get one back to make it 3-1. Just before half time, Benjamin picked up the ball just inside the Perrywood half and ran the length of the MSBT half to slot the ball past the goalkeeper, claim his hatrick and make it 4-1.

The good team play continued into the second half with hard work and excellent passing play by all the boys. James and Joe were unlucky not to get on the scoring sheet themselves but it was Matt who knocked in goal 5. Perrywood forced a number of corners during the game and it was at this point that Matt expertly curled one directly into the far top corner of the net for his second and to make it 6-1. Gus then finished off the scoring to make the final score 7-1. Some really good football by the whole team this week - a great game.

A special mention to the coach this week, who continues to do a great job with the boys (thanks Dickie) and who this week managed to upset the ref twice, although we are not entirely sure how !

Thanks to Christopher for the match notes.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  4 v 1 Chelsea

Mar 26th 2008 - Friendly

Squad: Jack.F, Jake, Adam, Josh, Jack.D, Benjamin, Matt, Joe, Max, James.G, Dan.DK, Owen

Goal Scorers: Jack (2), Benjamin, Matt

On a very cold and wet wednesday evening we took some of the boys down to K2 in Crawley for a friendly game against Chelsea Elite. The Chelsea group are made up of top players from several of the local sides (ThreeBridges, MaidenBower, SouthDown, SouthPark .... ) so it was always going to be a tough game.

The conditions were awful and the second generation artificial pitch did not help as the ball fizzed of the surface and pinged between the players. We went behind early on as the boys struggled to adapt to the playing surface and conditions and for the first tem minutes were under the kosh a bit. Then we managed to get a few passes together and scored an equaliser, 1-1 at half time.

For the second half we were up and running and bagged another 3 goals, the play was much better than the first half but still was not up to our best. When we did get the ball down and played it around we scored, and came away eventual winners 4-1. Which considering the opposition was a very good result.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  3 v 2  Maidenbower Sky Blues

Mar 16th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, James, Daniel DK, Dan CS

Goal Scorers: Dan CS, James, Max

Ok for the last game of the season we played Maidenbower Sky Blues. George was out ill so we had to shuffle the midfield around around. Maidenbower were also short a few players and we have given them agreement to borrow some players (3) from Blue Alphas (from the red league).

I had made a deal with the boys before the game that if they were up by three goals at half time, then we would let them play wherever they wanted to, and guess what happened.

First to score was Dan.CS with a fortunate goal through the keepers legs, next up was James with a well taken goal, and then last up was max with a great free kick that somehow made its way through the crowded area and into the goal, 3-0 Perrywood at halftime.

So for the second half, Sam went in goal and Jake out right midfield (Josh dropped back into defence), Max went up front and James went centre midfield, with Dan DK left mid. Owen remained left back and Dan.CS had a rest for a few minutes.

We had a few good chances but couldn't manage to add to the scoring. Maidenbower had put on Charlie from Navy Blues at the end of the half and his quality showed in the second half when he popped in two well taken goals (that's why he is their top scorer).

It did get a bit messy but the boys enjoyed themselves and a deal is a deal, well done to all the squad for a good season :)

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  0 v 1 Oakwood

Mar 16th 2008 - League

Sorry the picture didn't work :(

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, Jack.D, Benjamin, Matt, Joe, Max, Josh

Goal Scorers:

Following the previous day's friendly against Three Bridges which the Eagles won 1-0, it was back to the league for a game against Oakwood. Oakwood and Perrywood have been neck and neck throughout the season and went into this game equal on points behind the league leaders so it was going to be a very tough game. Conditions were difficult with the rain and wind making it really cold and, with Gus and James H absent, Max and Josh were called up from the Golden Eagles to assist.

From the kick off Oakwood attacked hard and put the Eagles under a lot of pressure, but Perrywood gradually improved and started to respond with some good breaks into the Oakwood half. It was quite a physical game with the referee (Lee once again producing an excellent performance as the Eagles resident ref) awarding free kicks to both sides and a number of injuries occurring. It was from one of these free kicks just outside the Perrywood penalty area that Oakwood took the advantage with the ball headed into the net from the free kick to put Oakwood ahead 1-0 on the stroke of half time.

It remained a very close game in the second half and despite battling gamely with some near misses and a cross bar deflection there was no way through the Oakwood defence. Score at full-time 1-0 to Oakwood

Man of the Match: Benjamin

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  7 v 0 Wealdon Rangers

Mar 9th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Gus, Benjamin, Matt, Joe

Goal Scorers: Jack (2), Matt (2), Joe, Jay, Benjamin

Following the cup game against Maidenbower last week, it was back to the league with a game against Wealden Rangers. All the teams are gradually getting better, but the expectation was that the Eagles should win this game and they did not disappoint. Whilst they did not really get out of first gear, and will be tested more against Oakwood next week, the goals started to come relatively quickly with some good passing in midfield by Gus, Matt, James and Benjamin enabling Joe, James and Jack D (x2) to put the Eagles ahead 4-0 by half time. Wealden threatened a couple of times during the game but some good work by Adam and saves by Jack F kept the Eagles strong at the back with a clean score sheet. Notwithstanding a number of near misses, second half goals followed from Benjamin and then a further 2 from Matt, making the score 7-0 at full time.

Man of the Match: Adam

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 0  MSB Sharks

Mar 9th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, James, Daniel DK, Dan CS

Goal Scorers: Dan DK

Today we had to play second to last MSB Sharks, but it wasn't as easy as the stats would make you think. The game was mostly controlled by us but they had a few breaks quite well controlled by the defence. This is the little bit of what happened.

Nearly all the first half was attacking and that resulted in a good goal from Daniel CS so it was 1-0 at half time.

The second half was almost the same as the first one with some good and accurate passing. This time it was a great goal from George 2-0 Perrywood and that was the final score.

Man of the Match: Dan DK

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  1 v 1  Maidenbower Alphas

( 0 v 2  on penalties)

Mar 2nd 2008 - Cup

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Sam, Max, James, Dan CS, George

Goal Scorers: Max

Today Perrywood probably played the most unlucky game that we've ever played. Their goal was an own goal, we missed 2 penalties and we were definately looked the better team. This was the main action.

Early on they had a corner that hit our player and went in the net to make 1-0 to them. Then the game was played at both ends but mostly we were attacking right up until half time.

The second half was similar right up until the end when Max scored a cracker that sent the fans celebrating like they'd won the Champions League. It was still only 1-1 so we went on to a devastating penalty shoot-out.

Only two shots had to be taken because both ours missed and both theirs scored so sadly its going to be a Maidenbower v Maidenbower final.

Thanks for the report Tom, and well played boys. It was a good game but with any football match you always need a bit of luck and today it wasn't our turn.

Man of the Match: George

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 1 Maidenbower Navy Blues

( 2 v 3  on penalties)

Mar 2nd 2008 - Cup

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Gus, Benjamin, Matt, Joe

Goal Scorers: Jay

It was the Semi-final of the cup against the top team in the league. The Eagles played fair, fought hard and took the game to Maidenbower. Although it was Maidenbower that opened the scoring in the first half, the Eagles never gave up and were contiually pushing well into Maidenbower's half.

In the second half it was more of the same and just as it looked like the Eagles were not going to be rewarded for their hard work, two minues from time they were awarded a free kick which was crossed into the MNB pemalty area and headed into the back of the net by James H. 1-1 at full time was probably a fair result but as a cup game it meant penalities which the team then unfortunaetly lost 3-2.

The boys can be proud of putting up a great fight. They didn't lose the game, just lost out on the penalty lottery at the end. Well done to them all.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  4 v 0 Ifield Edwards Red

Feb 24th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Gus, Benjamin, Matt, Joe

Goal Scorers: Jack (3), Benjamin

With Dickie otherwise engaged watching his other team win at Wembley, Simon took over as chief coach for the day......

It was a very quiet game for Jack F in goal this week and he was rarely troubled by the Ifield attack. The Eagles defence and midfield worked hard at ensuring most of the play remained in the Ifield Edwards half. There were a few good footballing moments and what seemed to be a large number of near misses, although with a bit more passing the boys could probably have scored a few more.

Jack D had another great goal scoring game, scoring goals 1, 2 & 4 to pick up his second successive hatrick and Benjamin knocked in the third.  The boys will definitely need to pick up the pace next week  and focus on their teamwork as it's a challenging semi-final cup game against Maidenbower Navy Blues - a real toughy ! (...and thanks to Christopher for his match notes)

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  0 v 1  MSB Terriers

Feb 17th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Sam, Max, James, Daniel CS

Goal Scorers:

Today Perrywood had to play league bottom MSB Terriers. Despite their position, we knew it was going to be tough because Max and Josh had been throwing up all night but were still brave enough to come to the game so well done Max and Josh for even coming.

Most of the game was at two ends with both teams having opportunities to attack and defend. Around half way through the second half MSB scored on a break to put them 1-0 ahead. We had one brilliant chance to equalise but Daniel S just missed by a few inches. Although they won the game 1-0, I think some of our players deserve silverware just for playing. Most of our players were under par and their team definately played on top form so well done MSB

Man of the Match: Josh

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  5 v 0 Maidenbower Blue Alpha

Feb 17th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Jack (4), Matt

Another great team game from the Eagles this week. Although things started slowly, the Eagles had the share of possession and put lots of pressure on the Maidenbower goal with a number of near misses. They were however almost caught out with breaks by Maidenbower requiring Jack F to pull off a couple of great saves and it was not until nearly half time that Jack D managed to get the ball into the net for the Eagles to make it 1-0.

The pace picked up in the second half with more great passing and crosses into the box from all the boys enabling Jack D to add goals 2,3 & 4. With the last touch of the game Matt headed in the fifth. Final score 5-0.

Man of the Match: Jack

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  2 v 1 MSB Lightnings

Feb 10th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Joe, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Gus, Benjamin

Following a rest week, the Eagles were back and keen to take on MSBL, the team just below them in the league. From the start the run of play was with the Eagles and the majority of possession stayed with them in the MSBL half. A number of good runs and shots on goal came from Matt, Gus, Joe and Benjamin and it was Gus who eventually managed to put the Eagles 1-0 ahead just before half time. In the second half, MSBL remained dangerous on the break and Adam, James and Jack were kept busy in defence with some great interceptions and saves. The Eagles continued to play well as a team and some great midfield passing set up Benjamin who lobbed the ball over the defence and the goalkeeper into the back of the net to make it 2-0. MSBL did not given up and they grabbed a goal back just before the end. Final score 2-1 to Perrywood.

Man of the Match: Adam

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  1 v 1  TD Shipley Red

Feb 10th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Sam, Max, James, Daniel CS, Daniel.DK

Goal Scorers: Max

Today Perrywood had to play TD Shipley Red. The game had lots of midfield action that was quite exciting to watch.

The first half started off with the ball up at both ends of the pitch for once. About mid way through the first half, TD scored from a corner but it was hard to tell what actually happened. Most of the rest of the half was fairly equal.

In the second half we played much better and we were the ones attacking. Max scored a brilliant top corner that lead us to an equaliser. We had one chance to get ahead when Daniel S had a shot which was saved and Sam took the rebound but missed. Finally the full time whistle blew the game finishing 1-1.

Thanks for update Tom, for sure the second half was a lot better and in the end we had the chances to finish it off.

Man of the Match: Max

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  5 v 0  Horley Eagles

Feb 3rd 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Sam, George, Max, James, Daniel CS, Daniel.DK

Goal Scorers: George, James, Dan.CS, O.G, Max

Today we had the chance to definately win the League Title against recent improvers Horley Eagles. All we needed today was a win to be certain to have silverware from the Crawley League. All of the Golden Eagles were here today so we could play a whole squad and it was a good thing as the second half was full of injuries. This is what happened in the game.

Even from kick off Perrywood looked like the better team and they had lots of the defending work. George scored the the first of the day putting us 1 up. A bit later one of Horley's players scored a brilliant goal but in the wrong net putting us 2-0 up. After that we went 3-0 up but this time Daniel S scored a brilliant goal. Then Our fourth goal came from Jim just before 1/2 time.

In the second half we just had lots of injuries starting with Horley producing a nasty tackle on George that might have broken his nose. Max then scored a great goal to make it 5-0, then shortly after was fouled from behind and had to come off. Dan.DK was also taken out and Josh had a good shot from the freekick but this was saved on the line by the keeper. Final score 5-0 Perrywood.

Thanks for the report Tom, although I must say the collision with George seemed to be accidental and more clumsy than anything else.

So that win, means that the team has won the League, so well done to all the boys and George, hope you get better soon.

Man of the Match: George

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  4 v 0 Horley Falcons

Jan 27th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Joe, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Joe, Jack.D (2), Matt

Following the previous day's friendly 3-1 win over Southdown , the Eagles were keen to take that form into a league game. The first half saw the majority of play with the Eagles with some great passing and tackling putting a lot of pressure on the Falcons. The goals however would not come and, despite some near misses, at half time the score remained 0-0.

Into the second half and the pressure remained but the Falcons made the occasional break, one of which resulted in Jack F getting injured as he pulled off a brave save at the feet of the opposing striker. Gus had to step in as reserve keeper. After that it was all one way and the goals started to come, some great runs into the opposing half by Benjamin supported by James H and Adam at the back helped set up goals for Joe, Jack D (x2) and Matt. Final score 4-0 to the Eagles.

Well done boys, it took a while for the goals to start, but when they did they came quick and fast.

Man of the Match: Benjamin

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  5 v 0  Maidenbower Blue Omega

Jan 27th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Sam, George, James, Daniel CS

Goal Scorers: Dan.CS (2), James, Sam, O.G

Today we had to play 2nd place Maidenbower Omega. It should've been even tougher because we had no Max. This is what happened in the game.

The first half started off slow and steady with opportunities to score every now and again until about 1/2 way through the first half Dan CS scored to make 1-0 Perrywood. A few minutes later Dan S scored a cracker that doubled our lead. There wasn't a lot for Jake to do in goal before the half time whistle.

The beginning of the second half was like the beginning of the first but the action started much sooner. Jim took a corner that looked like it went in but it was hard to tell because it looked over the line when one of their players kicked it in the net, so some think it was an own goal and some think Jim scored. Jim definitely scored our 4th goal of the day a few minutes later. Just before the final whistle, Sam scored our 5th and final of the day.

Well done to all the boys who played really well today. There was lots of positive play and the boys found space and did a lot of good passing, especially in the second half.

Thanks for the report Tom, and I think the last sentence sums it up - good positive play and lots of good passing, really well done to all the boys.

Man of the Match: Daniel.CS

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 0  Southdown

Jan 26th 2008 - Friendly

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, Sam, George, James, Daniel CS, Morgan

Goal Scorers: Dan.CS (2)

A good solid game away against Southdown, who the Golden Eagles have not beaten before. Max was not available for the game, so Morgan was given a debut run out, which he played well in. The boys adopted quickly to the grass and settled into a routine with some good passing. Southdown came close in the second half with a good strike that hit the post, but apart from that Jake was not really troubled. Final score 2-0 Perrywood.

Man of the Match:

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  3 v 1 Southdown

Jan 26th 2008 - Friendly

Squad: Jack.F, Adam, James, Jack.D, Gus, Joe, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: James, Gus, Joe

The Eagles took up the opportunity to play an away friendly against southdown, which gave them a chance to play on grass. The boys had a good start and were the ones to break the deadlock. Southdown have always been stiff opposition and never did give up, but the Eagles kept their shape well and played some good passing football. Final score 3-1 Perrywood.

Man of the Match:

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 1  Maidenbower Sky Blues

Jan 20th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, Daniel.DK, Sam, George, James, Daniel CS

Goal Scorers: Dan.CS, Max

Today the Golden Eagles played Maidenbower Sky Blues. The game was tougher than usual, possibly because the Sky Blues were players down and had to borrow from their first team - the Navy Blues.
The game started well with some good passing between the midfield and attackers. In the 5th minute Daniel CS picked up a ball from George and managed to shoot it past the goalie to make 1-0. The Sky Blues made a couple of good breaks with the Golden Eagles having to show some solid defensive skills. Jake made one particularly good save to prevent them from scoring. Just before half time Max scored a well deserved goal that lobbed over their defence.
The second half was a bit more scrappy than the first with some opportunities for both sides. The Sky Blues scored shortly before full time when one of their players made a good run from a break. The Golden Eagles held it together however until the end achieving a well deserved 2-1 win.

Man of the Match: Owen

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 2 Maidenbower Navy Blues

Jan 20th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Adam, James, Jack, Joe, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Joe

The Eagles were up against the toughest team in Red league who have a 100% record so it was always going to be a difficult game. Jack F was injured and so Jake was called up to keep goal. The first half saw lots of good defensive and attacking play by both teams as well as some near misses and goal line clearances. It could have gone either way but the Eagles struck first with Joe getting his foot to the ball and putting it across the line to make it 1-0 to the Eagles at half time.

The second half saw Maidenbower come out fighting but the Eagles were giving as good as they got with some near misses up front and some excellent defensive and midfield work. Unfortunately it was Maidenbower that managed to convert their chances, knocking in a couple of goals to finish as 2-1 winners. Despite losing this was a really excellent performance by the Eagles and the boys should be proud of themselves showing they can compete on equal terms with the league leaders.

Man of the Match: Jack.D

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 1 MSB Thunders

Jan 13th 2008 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Joe

Well football is a game of two halves and this was one of those games. The Eagles seemed unable to really get into gear in the first half and despite the run of play staying with them they appeared vulnerable and this was exploited by the Thunders who broke away a couple of times in the first 5 minutes. The first break resulted in a good save by Jack F but the second left him no chance and the Thunders took the lead 1-0. There was some good forward play and some near misses for the Eagles but the goals would not come. The second half saw the Eagles get back into the game with some effective passing play piling on the pressure against the Thunders and Adam and James closing down any breaks. Up front Gus had a few attempts all going just wide, Benjamin hit the post and Matt's shot went just over the bar. It appeared that it was not going to be Eagles day but with a couple of minutes left the ball fell to Jack D who setup Joe to get the equaliser. Final score 1-1.

Man of the Match: Jack.D

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  3 v 0  MSB Sharks

 Jan 13th 2008 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, Daniel.DK, Sam, George, James, Daniel CS

Goal Scorers: James (2), Dan.CS

Today we had a good game against MSB Sharks. There's not much to say about this team so lets get straight to the action.

First of all Josh had two good early shots that weren't successful. A bit later on Jim scored a great goal that put us 1 up. Then we had a number of shots and corners putting pressure on the sharks before 1/2 time.

In the second half there was a lot more action than the first. First of all the half started off with further attacking until Jim scored his second of the day. A bit later Daniel Silva had a great effort that was arguably over the line but the ref said it wasn't. A few minutes later Daniel Silva had another great effort this time it was definately in and that made 3-0 Perrywood and that is how it finished.

Well played boys another good solid game, we still need to concentrate a bit more of some of our passing moves, as there were times when we could of and should of scored if the right ball had been played. I would like to see scores of 6 or 7 :)

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  0 v 0  Horley Falcons

 3 v 2  after penalties

Jan 6th 2008 - Cup

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, Daniel.DK, Sam, George, James

Goal Scorers: (Pens - Josh, Max, George)

Today we played Horley Falcons who are 5th in the Red League so we knew it was gonna be tough. As well as a hard game it was also crucial as it was in the 1/4 final of the K/O Cup. This is what happened.

In the first half the game was very two sided with both teams having loads of corners and shots. The second half was a similar story so it all depended on penalties.

They had the first kick that was brilliantly saved by Jake. Then Jim took our first penalty and hit the post. Then they scored their next penalty but luckily Josh scored his penalty too. They scored their next penalty but Max also scored a great penalty that lead us to sudden death. Jake managed to save the next one, then George scored a fantastic penalty that sent us into the semi finals. Everyone was celebrating and i think we did a great job so well done and good luck in the semi's!!!

Well played boys, I don't think it was our best game we have played, but we battled hard and got the result in the end, so we march on, well done.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 0 MSB Lightnings

Jan 6th 2008 - Cup

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

First game of the New Year was a cup game against MSB Lightnings and Eagles were back up to full strength with Joe's arm now mended. The first half was closely fought with both sides competing strongly in the middle and at both ends with Perrywood having some near misses at the MSB end and Jack F and Jack D making some goal line saves and clearances leaving it 0-0 at half time. The second half continued in the same way with a sustained period of pressure from MSB resisted by another excellent goal line clearance. The match looked like it might be going to extra time, but 4 minutes from full time a MSB handball just inside their half gave Perrywood a free kick which was kicked into the penalty area and put into the back of the net by James H to give Perrywood a 1-0 lead and the match. A good match well played by all the boys giving Perrywood a place in the next round.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 1 Oakwood

Dec 16th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Benjamin

A cold but dry winter's day had Perrywood up against Oakwood. Everyone expected that this was going to be a close game and it was! The first half saw Oakwood having the run of play with continual pressure in the Perrywood half and the Eagles seeming unable to respond effectively. Despite some good defending by Adam, Jack D and Jack F, Oakwood managed to grab the first goal to go 1-0 ahead before half time. A stirring team talk by the coach however clearly encouraged Perrywood and they came out in the second half a different side and the run of play switched to them. Gus, James, Matt and Benjamin all pushed up to threaten the Oakwood goal and some great passing saw Gus set up Benjamin to get a goal back to make it 1-1. Oakwood however remained dangerous and if it had not been for Jack F coming off his line to make a great save the result could have been different. Full time saw what was probably a fair 1-1 result for both teams.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  0 v 1  Worth Park Rangers

Dec 16th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Owen, Max, Daniel.DK, Sam,

Goal Scorers:

Well this was always going to be an interesting one, for various reasons we were missing three of our normal starting line up and only had six players in total instead of the normal seven.

The boys started really well and this continued throughout the game. Even though we were a man less we bossed the game, had most of the possession and the lions share of the chances. Sure it was not pretty at times, and Jake did have one good save to make which he managed to push over the bar. Other than that we were not really troubled at the back. Then towards the end of the second half with the boys beginning to tire, Worth Park broke from a corner and raced down our end of the pitch. The boys chased after them and as the cross came in Sam deflected it into the goal. This happened with 1 minute left on the clock, we pushed forward for the rest of the time and threw everything forward for the last corner but it wasn't meant to be.

The boys were obviously very upset at the end, but really this was a gallant effort by all the boys and the should be very proud. Worth Park were clearly pleased to beat the top of the table team, but lets make sure that we get at least 7 players together for the return game on the 24th Feb :)

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  6 v 0  MSB Terriers

Dec 9th 2007 - League

Squad: Gus, Jake, Josh, Max, James, Daniel.CS, Sam,

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS, Sam, Max (2), Jake (2)

Today we played League Bottom MSB Terriers. We only had 6 Golden Eagles there so got permission to play Gus but only if he played in goal so Jake got a chance to play outfield for once. We could've played without a keeper because Gus didn't get a touch of the ball at all. This is the action.

Fairly close to the beginning Max scored with his left foot for 1-0 Perrywood. A bit later we had a good effort but their keeper did a brilliant save. After that Jake scored his first goal of the season but the second for his team in the game. A bit after that Jake scored his second of the season for 3-0 Perrywood. Then was 1/2 time.

Early in the second half Daniel S scored our fourth. A lot of action happened for our team so the Terriers had to play mostly defensively. A bit later Max scored a great goal for 5-0. Then Sam scored a Christmas cracker struck into the top corner for 6-0. You thought a seventh would come soon but it just never arrived before the final whistle.

The boys did some good passing today and played extremely well so well done!

Just to add to Tom's report - we done boys a very good game, possibly the best to date, especially considering a few were playing out of position. Josh and Sam were rock solid at the back and got forward quickly to support. The midfield boys tackled hard and most of the time passed the ball well, whilst Danny hassled the MSB defence for the complete game.

Dec 9th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Benjamin, Jack.D (2), O.G , Matt

At least it was not raining at the outset of this match!
Jack D opened the scoring fairly early on but Perrywood looked quite unsettled for the first half. Both Benjamin and Matt had shots on target which were saved. Perrywood were lucky not to concede a goal with the ball being passed around a few times before being cleared. The first half ended 1 - 0.
Matt hit the bar seconds into the second half and this seemed to spur the boys into action. With constant pressure being applied the goals began to come and Perrywood's confidence grew. Matt and Benjamin scored a goal apiece, James H had a good attempt saved and Jack D scored his second. The football was not as good as it might have been at times today but at the end of the day the score was in our favour and the boys get another 3 points.

Best wishes to Joe who will be out with a broken arm for the next few games....There was lots of weather again for this match !- bucketloads of wind and horizontal rain for the boys to contend with. The match started off well with a cross from Benjamin setting Jack D up to make it 1-0 with only a couple of minutes gone. This was quickly followed by a cross from Matt being put into their own goal to make it 2-0 to Perrywood and then Jack D adding his second to make it 3-0 at half time. The second half was more end to end with Jack F being called on to pull off a couple of saves and Adam and James working hard at the back and midfield to close down any breaks and set up some Perrywood counter attacks. Despite a cracking shot from Gus hitting the bar and some other near misses Perrywood seemed unable to add to the score until a Matt cross was knocked over the line by Benjamin to make it 4-0 with the last kick of the game.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  1 v 0  TD Shipley Red

Dec 2nd 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, Sam, George

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS

Today we played Horshamers TD Shipley Red. The game saw our team do some great passing and have most of the possession. This is what happened in the game.

In under 10 seconds, the ball got straight up the field for a Max shot that hit Dan CS and went straight in, 1-0 Perrywood. The rest of the first half was normal play, mostly ours but a bit of theirs too. Then was half time.

The second half was similar to the first one until near the end when TD had a long nail biting attack that thankfully didn't reach the back of the net. The Final Score was 1-0 to Perrywood.

It was a lot harder because the weather was cold, wet and VERY windy, so well done boys for even playing.

Nov 25th 2007 - League

Goal Scorers: Sam, Max, Daniel.CS, OG

Today we had to play Horley Town Eagles. A lot happened in this game including 4 goals, great attacks and Sam's Debut. Not much more to say in the introduction so here's what happened.

First of all they had a shot that ended up as nothing. Then the game was mostly ours but we just couldn't find the back of the net. The game continued with us pressing forward but at 1/2 time it was still 0-0.

Early in the second half Max had a good shot that was saved. Not long after Sam scored a great goal 1-0 Perrywood. Just after that Max took a great corner which was kneed in by a Horley player, 2-0 Perrywood. After this the boys gained in confidence and started passing the ball around well, ending in Daniel S scoring our third. Near the end of the game, we started another attack for our fourth, finished off well by Max 4-0 us and that was the final score. Tom

We had to shuffle the pack today with George not playing and it was Sam's debut game, so quite a few boys were playing out of position, and it took us the first half to settle. Towards the end of the second half there was some good passing moves going on and that when we scored our goals - well played boys and welcome Sam.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  5 v 0 Maidenbower Blue Alpha

Nov 25th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Benjamin (3), Gus (2)

Due to an injury, Joe was not available to play. Eagles started well with some good passing falling to Benjamin who knocked the ball over the line to put Perrywood 1-0 ahead with less than a minute gone. Maidenbower then went on the offensive but some good interceptions by James and Adam and saves by Jack F kept Maidenbower out. Perrywood kept up the work rate and the passing play which was rewarded with Gus adding a second and Benjamin the third to make it 3-0 to Perrywood at half time. The second half kicked off with Perrywood continuing to pressure the Maidenbower team with hard work in midfield by James and Jack D and some great runs by Gus, Matt and Benjamin. A couple of corners and good crosses from Matt set up Gus who added the fourth and Benjamin who claimed his hatrick to finish the game 5-0.

The second half seemed to be a lot better than the first, with some much slicker passing going on. There was some good running going off the ball as well, keep it up for next weeks game.

Another tough game this week not helped by the wind, rain and freezing temperature, Without going into too much detail there was lots of end to end play and a great team effort by all of the Eagles. On balance the run of play and attempts on goal were with the Eagles but Mid-Sussex kept the pressure up with some good breaks and near misses. The breakthrough came for the Eagles early in the second half when a Jack D corner was volleyed into the net by James H. Final score 1-0 to Perrywood.

Nov 18th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, George

Goal Scorers: George, Josh, Daniel.DK

Today Perrywood had a well deserved win against MUBO. We played well, improving in the second half, despite the awful conditions. I was more worried about the temperature than the rain because it felt like a Siberian summer. Enough on that, here's the game:

Perrywood had the first bit of possession. Although Maidenbower had improved from the last time we played them and they surprised us by an early break which ended up hitting the bar. We learnt our lesson and didn't let them pass so easily through the defences again. After this we had a lot of the possession until George scored from a Max Corner, 1-0 us. Then came 1/2 time.

In the second half lots of action happened mostly up their end so Jake didn't have much to do. After a while Josh smacked the ball in from another Max corner, 2-0 us. Deep into the second half Jim passed the ball up for Daniel DK to get number 3. 3-0 was the final score.

The whole team is learning to use everyone's strengths, so well done boys, I'm sorry there wasn't too much here. My hands were freezing so it was harder to write things down.

Well done boys, a good result considering the conditions. The back two look nice and solid, the midfield worked very hard and we could have scored more goals. It was good to see that a some of the set plays are coming along - keep it up.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  4 v 0  Maidenbower Sky Blues

Nov 11th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, George

Goal Scorers: Josh, Max, Daniel.CS (2)

Today Perrywood had a relatively easy game against a Maidenbower team. There was a lot of noise on the pitch especially after a minutes silence with passing, shooting and play mostly offensive. We've now played all the teams in the league and we've succeeded every time. Here's all the important action.

The game had a interesting start when Max took an early short corner to Josh who smacked the ball over the players but into the net 1-0 Perrywood. After that Maidenbower began to earn a bit of possession especially on the break, but Owen, Josh and Jake all did their bit in defence to make sure the ball didn't hit the back off our net. There was lots of attacking play by the Golden Eagles but nothing else major happened until after 1/2 time.

The second 1/2 started off well with action mostly up their end and hardly coming down ours. After this scenario, Max scored a good goal from just outside the area to get 2-0 Perrywood. Then we had a few shots and they had some free kicks until we had a series of corners before Daniel.S scored a fab goal to get 3-0. Almost straight after his first. Dan.S dribbled right up the field, past the keeper and into the goal to make 4-0 and that was the final score.

Good game boys, with some well worked goals, a great save by Jake when it was 1-0. If that had gone in it might have been a different game, keep it up.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  0 v 5 Maidenbower Utd Navy Blues

Nov 11th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benjamin, Matt

Goal Scorers:

With Maidenbower unbeaten, the Eagles knew it was going to be a difficult game. The first minute after kick off started well with some great passing setting up Matt who, with a great strike, saw the ball just bounce off the cross bar. After that, despite the occasional break from the Eagles, Maidenbower brought the game into the Eagles half and kept it there. Maidenbower's first goal came from a free kick just inside the Perrywood half, which bounced straight through the defence and past an unsighted Jack F into the goal. The second came shortly after as Maidenbower piled on the pressure leaving the Eagles 0-2 down at half time. The Eagles continued to struggle in the second half and seemed unable to get in gear. With some admittedly good football the run of play stayed with Maidenbower who added a further 3 goals. Final score 0-5.

Nov 4th 2007 - Cup

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, George

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS, Max

Today Perrywood G Eagles had what I thought would be an easy game but ended up being a fairly difficult game. Having match play at both ends was not what I'd been used to seeing but having such a challenge was what i think the team wanted after a set of quite easy games. Enough of that, here's what happened in the game.

After Kick-Off, both teams had some brilliant shots and good teamwork. Unluckily, at each attack something went wrong right at the end of the attack. This was until Daniel S scored an outstanding goal with a long run and strong shot to get 1-0 Perrywood. After that both teams had some of the possession until 1/2 time.

After 1/2 time the game again went in 2 directions. After a series of good attacks Max struck a nice goal to get 2-0 Perrywood. A lot happened between the goal and full time but unfortunately, not another goal. Final score 2-0 Perrywood.

Thanks for the report Tom, I thought it was a very good game by all the boys, especially considering we were playing a team from the Red league. The boys at the back were very solid as usual and Jake didn't really have too much to do in goal. The midfield played well and at time passed the ball around, and Daniel up front scored a great first goal - bring on the next round

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  9 v 0 Horley Eagles

Nov 4th 2007 - Cup

Squad: Jack, Adam, James, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benajmin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Jack, Gus, Benjamin (2), Matt, Joe (3), O.G

The first cup game of the season and the Eagles were back to full strength with James H back in the squad after his holiday. The expectation was that Perrywood should be the stronger side and from the kick off this looked like it would be the case. Within a few minutes an early strike by Benjamin was parried by the keeper but Jack D was on hand to knock the ball into the net to put Perrywood 1-0 ahead. A couple of good breaks by Matt and Gus were stopped by the Horley defence but it wasn't long before a well taken throw by Gus enabled Joe to add the second to make it 2-0. Some breaks from Horley were quickly stopped by Adam but, with the play mostly in Horley's half, Jack F had very little to do. Matt was kept busy taking corners and then added to the scoring himself with a well taken interception from the Horley keeper's drop kick being slotted into the net with a great strike to make it 3-0. There was controversy at this point with a Jack D goal disallowed as although it had appeared to rebound off the post it had actually bounced off the spectator next to the goal. The second half opened with Perrywood almost constantly at the Horley end and, with Jack F still very quiet in goal, Adam pushed up for corners. The goals then started to come quite rapidly with a great pass by James setting up Gus for a terrific lob over the keeper into the top of the net (4-0), a corner from Matt dropped by the Horley keeper into his own net (5-0) and a shot by James parried by the keeper enabling Benjamin to add no.6. Although the Horley keeper managed to make some good saves, it was not enough to stop Perrywood with Joe then adding goals 7 and 8 in quick succession to claim his hat-trick, whilst also setting up Benjamin for goal number 9. Final score 9-0 to Perrywood and through to the next round of the cup.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  4 v 0 Horley Falcons

Oct 28th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benajmin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Joe, Jack.D, Gus, Matt

It was a horribly wet and windy day and the Eagles were on for the last match of the day with a 4.15 kick off against the Falcons. However, the match couldn't have got off to a better start with some good passing between Gus and Benjamin straight from kick off setting up Matt for a great left footer into the top of the net making it 1-0 with barely a minute gone. The Falcons looked like they might respond immediately with some early play into the Eagles half but some good interceptions by Adam and a save by Jack F kept the Falcons out. Gus was unlucky not to make it 2-0 with a great run down the wing past a couple of defenders only to be foiled by the goalkeeper. Horley remained dangerous on the break but the midfield remained solid with Jack D and Joe both ensuring the Falcons rarely got into the Eagles half. The Eagles soon settled down with some good quality passing from all the players seeing goal no.2 from Joe and no.3 added by Jack D, both assisted by Benjamin, making it 3-0 at half time. The second half was characterised by a lack of light with the boys struggling as the dark early evenings started to make an immediate appearance (think some floodlights will be necessary next week !) Some great passing play and some good corners from Matt created a number of chances but the Falcon's defence held out, until Gus found a way though the defence to slot the ball into the net. Final score 4-0 to Perrywood

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  3 v 0  MSB Sharks

Oct 28th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, George

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS, James, George

Today Perrywood had a wet game against MSB Sharks in the worst weather so far this season. Today's opposition, despite the score were probably the hardest team so far. They showed classy defence skills in the first half but weakened in the second half enabling us to break through to get some goals. This is what happened.

First off all the game kicked off and they started to get up our end for a while. Then after a bit, we got a corner which ended up as a waste. Then later Max had a good shot that missed. We had a few good attacks with some accurate passing from the boys, but we just couldn't score in the first half.

After the goalless first 1/2, I thought the game would be a 0-0 draw but not long into the second 1/2, I was proved wrong with a great goal from Daniel.CS, 1-0 Perrywood. After that we started to have a lot of the play with the opposition having to work defensively. After some time, James G (Jim) scored another to make 2-0 Perrywood. Then the game heated up when we made a mistake in defence that ended in relief with them missing an open goal. At the end, George scored to get 3-0 which was the final score.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 0  Worth Park Rangers

Oct 21st 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS, George

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS, Max

Perrywood had a great game today against the team third in the league WPR (Worth Park Rangers.) The book of joy is still the book of joy after another brilliant win with a lot to report. Anyway, here's the game.

Soon after kick off Daniel S took a good shot. Then came a great attack that just couldn't find it's way into the net but after some 2 way play Daniel S scored to make 1-0 Perrywood. Then the game got in to flow, both sides doing their bit to switch it on. Then we had a slow attack which at the end resulted in 1/2 time.

First the game had action at both ends before Perrywood had a long streak of corners until Daniel S finished off with a shot. After that Max took a long shot when the Worth Park keeper did a David James impression that made 2-0 Perrywood. WPR had one nerve racking attack before full time Perrywood 2 Worth Park 0.

I would just like to add to Toms report that it was good to see the midfield looking very solid today, there was some good passing and it was good to see the boys keeping their shape a bit more, the boys at the back were also very good and Jake was well protected - well done all the boys.

Oct 14th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James.H, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benajmin, Matt

Goal Scorers: Joe, Jack.D (3), Benjamin

The team was back to full strength with Matt's ankle now better and, after last weeks loss against Oakwood, eager to recapture their winning form. The Eagles started off with an immediate attacking run and this set the scene for the game with most of the possession with the Eagles and the play in the Mid-Sussex half. The first goal came from a good combined attack with an attempted clearance by Mid - Sussex finding Joe who knocked it into the net to make it 1-0. Jack D added no.2 and shortly after no.3 from Benjamin. Mid Sussex made a few attacks into the Perrywood half but these were quickly closed down by Adam and James H. The second half saw more of the same with Dickie using the opportinity of a spare player to try different combinations in the midfield and at the back. A flurry of activity threatened the Perrywood goal at one point but Jack F having a very quiet game was rarely troubled. Some good passing and attacking play by all the Eagles helped set up goals 4 and 5 for Jack D to claim his hat-trick. Final score 5-0 to Perrywood.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 0  MSB Terriers

Oct 14th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS,

Goal Scorers: Max, James

Today Perrywood GE's had to play the team at the bottom of the league but this was probably the hardest game this season. The team was well trained and had great defence tactics. Anyway, here's the game report.

Almost straight after kick off, Jim (James G) had a great shot that was saved (I think.) Then there were several good attacks from the team before the shot taker (James G) scored 1-0 Perrywood. There were a number of near misses before 1/2 time that made the game very exciting.

The second 1/2 was a great 1/2 of footy to watch. First Perrywood had a brilliant attack that really got the game in full throttle. At one point the ball went in the net from one of Max's corners. Unfortunately the goal was disallowed because the ball had gone through a hole in the side of the net. Max eventually got his well earned goal from a great strike to make 2-0 .That was the final score.

Perrywood had a great game today. They showed that they can play well together- they were good at staying in position, making space and had lots of good passes. The boys were on the attack for most of the game, although it was hard to break through a defence that consisted of all their 7 players. Well done to Jim for taking man of the match.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  1 v 2 Oakwood Youth

Oct 7th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James.H, Jack, Joe, Gus, Benajmin

Goal Scorers: Joe

The team knew this was going to be a hard game but were up for a challenge. Perrywood kicked off and some good team play freed up Benjamin to make a run down the line, his shot was parried by the keeper, but Joe was there to finish off. 1-0 to the Eagles with less than a minute gone. It was clear however that Oakwood were not going to be a push over and a quick break by their striker saw them equalise. 1-1 with only 2 minutes gone. The rest of the first half was then characterised by end to end play with both goals coming under pressure but neither side making the breakthrough. The second half resumed in the same vein with the bar being hit, a number of narrow misses or the goalkeeper saving. Adam and Jack F continued to hold the line resisting various Oakwood attacks and near misses but just as the run of play seemed to be going in Perrywood's direction, Oakwood found the back of the net for their second. Perrywood were 2-1 down. The Eagles continued the pressure with some good passing football and Gus, James H, Joe and Jack D all active in midfield pushing up to make attempts on goal. One last minute attempt saw Benjamin fouled as he broke free on the edge of the Oakwood box but it was not to be Perrywood's day as Jack D's well taken free kick struck the bar. Final score 2-1 to Oakwood.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  2 v 0  TD Shipley

Oct 7th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, Daniel.CS,

Goal Scorers: Max, James

Perrywood had a good game against TD Shipley Red but unluckily not much to report on. TD are a Horsham squad in the nearby town of Shipley. TD Shipley are very evenly matched compared to the other teams we've played. Anyway here's what did happen that I can report on.

About 1 minute into the game Max scored from a corner which deflected off the keeper (It would have gone in anyway.) Then both teams had some equal attacking play before 1/2 time.

In the second half it was similar to the first one. Jim scored 1 by passing it into the net, close to the goal to make 2-0 Perrywood. The game went back to the common game play that had been going on throughout the game until full time 2-0 Perrywood.

With George missing we had to shuffle the formation a bit, and although sometimes it was not pretty we managed to get the result. All the boys played very well and in particular - max ran his socks off (but still a bit too much all over the place :) ) and Josh was solid in front of the back two.

It was another game that we could have scored more in, and really we needed to be more disciplined in our positions, but at the end happy to take the three points.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  5 v 0 Wealdon Rangers

Sept 30th 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James.H, Jack, Joe, Matt, Benajmin

Goal Scorers: Jack.F (2), Joe, Benjamin, James

Due to Matt's injured ankle, the team swapped around for this game with Matt playing in goal and Jack F on the left wing. The Eagles were up against a side they have not played before but it soon became clear that, apart from a few breaks by the opposition, the Eagles would be playing an attacking game allowing Matt, for the most part, to have a quiet time. The Eagles settled into the game with an early run and pass by Benjamin setting up Joe who slotted it neatly past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Eagles kept the pressure up with Benjamin, Jack F and Jack D all making good attempts but either just missing or the goalkeeper keeping the ball out of the net.  A second goal eventually came with a good pass from Joe setting up Benjamin to make it 2-0. The second half continued in the same way with the occasional foray by Wealden Rangers into the Perrywood half being closed down quickly by Jack D, James and Adam. The Rangers keeper made some excellent saves to keep the Eagles out but with the continued pressure and the next goal coming from a well taken corner from Jack D setting up a header for James H. Jack F enjoying his period out on the field added goals 4 and 5 to make it 5-0 for the Eagles at full time.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  6 v 1  Horley Eagles

Sept 30th 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Owen, Max, James, George, Daniel.CS,

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS (4), Max, Josh

Today Perrywood Golden Eagles Played Horley Town Eagles. Horley in my point of view are Perrywoods biggest rivals, not only have we had Gus come from the Eagles at the Keys but we also have a few other non competitive links with them. I really enjoyed the game today because despite the score our defenders were needing to stay back sometimes.

To start off Perrywood had some good attacks that weren't successful, until Daniel S scored a great goal 1-0 Perrywood! Not long after Daniel S sneaked another goal to the back of the net 2-0 Perrywood!! When the game was in full flow another one was scored by guess who 3-0 Perrywood!!! After that came 1/2 time.

The second half came quickly and when that started a great goal came from Max to make it 4-0!!!! A bit of action came after the goal before Horley thought they were playing Footjake and when he had a hand on the ball, they kicked his arm then it looked like they kicked him into the goal. If he'd stayed down, the goal may not have counted but he could get up so it was 4-1. Quickly to make up for the whatever it was, Daniel S scored a fab goal to get 5-1 Perrywood!!!! Then before the end of the game Josh scored a brilliant goal to make the final score 6-1 Perrywood!!!!!

I would just like to add to Toms match report that I feel once again the boys played very well. The boys are becoming a bit more disciplined and holding their positions, the defence was solid, the GK rarely called into action (and I support toms view on the horley goal, but maybe the ref had a better view :) ) our striker is in a rich vein of form at the moment. It is the midfield area where I feel we can improve our play a lot more. We have some excellent players there this year and they battle very hard and run their socks off, but if we can hold our positions a bit more and play the ball around then we will have a lot more joy. It is ok at the moment when we dominate matches, but when we come up against a really tough team we are going to need to play the ball better, but certainly a great start - keep it up boys.

PERRYWOOD EAGLES  7 v 0 Ifield Edwards

Sept 23rd 2007 - League

Squad: Jack, Adam, James.H, Jack, Joe, Matt, Benajmin

Goal Scorers: Jack.D (3), Joe (3), Benjamin

Brilliant start for the Eagles this season. Not only did they win but top of the league too. It was some ***** FOOTY!

The game started of with a quick goal from Jack D goal to make 1-0 Eagles. Then the Eagles started to attack a bit before it became 2-0 (Same scorer). The games carried on with lots of work for Eddies defence and a bit of work for ours, until they couldn't take it and Benjamin scored for us to make it 3-0, just before 1/2 time.

The second 1/2 kicked off with Perrywood keeping possesion until Joe scored 1 for 4-0 to YOU KNOW WHO!
I know it wasn't too long until Joe scored the 5th goal for our team. Next we started to attack before Joe got his hatrick to make 6-0 Eagles. Just to end the game Jack D got his hatrick to get to the final score 7-0!!!
First game of the season and a win.

PERRYWOOD GOLDEN EAGLES  6 v 0  Maidenbower United Blue Omega

Sept 23rd 2007 - League

Squad: Jake, Josh, Daniel.DK, Max, Leonardo,  Gus, Daniel.CS,

Goal Scorers: Daniel.CS (4), Max, Gus

After a bit of a struggle with players we got there in the end and the boys played well. Max, Leo and Gus battled hard in midfield and Josh and Dan.DK were rarely troubled at the back. Jake almost fell asleep in goal and Dan.CS played really well up front, twisting and turning.

The first half finished 1-0 to us with Dan.CS scoring but really we should have been 3 or 4 up but we lacked a bit of composure around the box. The second half was much better and we actually passed the ball around well and that was the main reason for all the goals. The mom award could have really gone to any of the boys but went to Dan.CS because of his goal scoring.
